Day 2: Maria reports on our day in the small prison town of Huntsville, visit to the Texas Prison Museum and talk with a former warden...

Today we went to the Huntsville Prison museum where we were we were talked to by the director of the museum David Stacks. He gave us a full history of the most notorious prison in Huntsville called “the walls”. Stacks also gave us basically a play by play of what happens when an execution happens at this prison. He talked about famous inmates, one being Clyde of Bonnie and Clyde. After stacks provided us with all the knowledge we could have on “the walls”, executions, and what it’s like to witness an execution, we were free to explore the rest of the museum. Here we saw crafts, art and furniture made by inmates of the prison. There were also exhibits about famous criminals from Texas and an electric chair named “old sparky”, sparky was used for executions from 1924-1964 killing 361 inmates. After our visit to the museum we drove to eat lunch at the Farmhouse cafe. Then we made our way back to the school for dismissal.
